A parent and a taxpayer.
I began my journey 1 1/2 years ago attempting to get our children back to in-person schooling. I filed open records requests and demanded our school board address the issues with our former superintendent. The next natural step was to run for school board. I am committed to change in our school district; I will not stop pursuing transparency and respect for our Community members until a proper balance has been reached. ATTRACT. RETAIN. EXCEL
Attracting and retaining high quality educators is one of the most essential drivers of a well-functioning school district.

District culture, including leadership, collaboration and shared decision-making systems for accountability and resources for teaching and professional development.
New teachers also need a welcoming environment, tools for beginning their teacher careers, ongoing support structure including strong communication and peer mentors.
LITERACY FIRST AND FOREMOST
We must address concerns with Literacy first. The success of all other subjects is predicated on the ability of a student to read fluently, read for comprehension, and retain concepts.

Math skills are interconnected with literacy skills and will never be improved until Literacy skills are at a level that supports growth in other subjects.

A district wide EMERGENCY emphasis on improved Literacy is what our students need NOW.
FAMILY-COMMUNITY-DISTRICT PARTNERSHIP
Promote a basis of trust and engagement through three-way communication among Families, Community and the District.

I would like to see quarterly, informal gatherings of families, community members, and district leadership to come together, sit side by side and build a real partnership. The information nature will bridge the gap for individuals who do not feel comfortable in a formal setting, allowing their voices to be heard and to encourage others to do the same. With shared understanding we build Community.
